This is the week for the soccer playoffs. Holly's team played their first game last night and won so they get to play again tonight. Julia's team played their first game on Tuesday, won, and played their second game last night. They lost.
Julia was in tears. I had trouble deciding if she was sad that they lost the game - or sad that she won't get to see her teammates at practice anymore - or sad that the season is over and her team is disbanded. We got to watch about half of Holly's game, and Julia's tears lasted for all of it. Sean gave her a great pep-talk - talking up the spring season and using her feelings last night for inspiration for the future. Maybe the effect of the talk will show up in a few weeks, but last night it seemed to fall on deaf ears.
I never thought she'd like soccer that much. I'm glad she does. And we might get to see her coach again tonight at least - since Julia handed the coach her watch and earrings at the start of the game and forgot to get them at the end. Oops.
