Oh Buttonholes

I have Holly's dress finished except for the buttonholes and buttons and the final hem. I had to use one of Oliver's old shirts for the buttons. I have a tacklebox full of buttons, but no 10 were both the right color and size. I was so excited this morning I even woke up before the girls. I was sure I would just knock out the buttonholes and have it ready for Holly to try on to hem when she got up. Nope. The trial buttonhole I did on scrap fabric was great. Every buttonhole I did on the dress itself messed up in one way or another. So I've pulled out the machine manual, had some breakfast, taken a few breaths... I may be ready to try again this afternoon. When Julia was a baby I made her an outfit and did handsewn buttonholes. I remember it took me a long time to do it that way.
