Friday Night - No Lights

When we arrived in TN, we went to Sean's mom's house. After visiting a little my mom headed on in to Oak Ridge to the hotel and we (Sean, his mom, and I) took the kids to a place called Bounce House. We thought they closed at 6, but they really closed at 5, so the kids only got to bounce a little. But they made the most of it. Huge bounce things for them to slide and jump on. Perfect after being in the car all day. Sean's cousin and his wife and their girls came and bounced with us - only Sean's cousin was the only adult bouncer.

The kids and I left the bounce place and headed to the hotel in Oak Ridge. We went straight to my mom's room because she's already checked us in and had our key. We were in her room on the 5th floor of the hotel, still saying hello when the lights started to flicker. Then they went out.

We spent the next hour or more in the dark. And I soon realized how lucky we were that we had not been on the elevator when the power went out. Very lucky. And on Friday the 13th too.

The view from our room was nice.

Right across the street from the hotel where my senior prom was held. Probably my junior prom too. As we came into town, Julia suddenly got interested in seeing all the places I'd seen and lived while I was growing up. I was thrilled. I've been driving them by old places for years and they've only shown polite interest if any. But it was getting dark and I was getting hungry - and I get grumpy when I get hungry - so I'd told her maybe tomorrow we could sight see. And we went on to the hotel. Lucky... or Divine intervention.
