Tennessee Christmas

After Alan's Christmas program was over and the girls got home from school, we loaded up to head to my brother's house to spend the evening with my grandma and my aunt - and my brother and his family. We had a great time and just before my brother took my aunt and grandma to the hotel, I remembered to take a picture to prove we'd all been together.
Then I took the kids to meet Oliver at the Super 8 around the corner. They were heading off to Pennsylvania the next morning and Sean and I were heading into Tennessee to see his family.
About 30 minutes out of Greenville the snow started.

It was pretty. And Sean was excited to see it. For awhile.

Then instead of just snow on the trees we had trees on the road.

And I've never seen so many cars abandoned on the side of the road. I'm thinking most of the people got caught in the bad weather the night before, but not ignoring the possibility that some might have just slid off more recently. So I spent a good bit of the trip engrossed in my book - Water for Elephants.
And then before I knew it we'd been to Sean's mom's. We'd been to see his grandparents in Oak Ridge, and we were at his MaMaw's for the family party. Where big burly men who make delicious fudge fed sweets to little angels. It was lovely.
