Since taking the kids to meet Oliver for Spring Break, I haven't done much but lay down. I'm not sure if that car ride just put me over the edge or what - but the most comfortable position is on my stomach, flat out. When I stand I get a tingling down my leg. Occasionally I had numbness on my foot. So Friday morning I went in for an MRI. And got my answer.
The orthopedic doctor I saw twice since December (and complained about because I felt he was giving me cookie cutter care and not really listening to my personal case) called from his vacation Friday afternoon to say he'd looked at the results online. I have a new respect for him. I take back every mean thought I had about him. I was wrong.
He doesn't think surgery will be necessary. Hopefully the shot I get on Monday will get me started on healing.
I'm relieved to have an answer. And glad I finally got a drug to take the edge off enough to get some sleep at night... at least in four hour stretches.
No, I don't think it was the 5K that pushed me over the edge. I was feeling better as long as I was doing the physical therapy, but it seemed as I stretched the time between sessions my pain got worse, even though I carried on with the home program. I think it has been a multi-causation event that probably started when I started running.
I'm just glad I have hope again!
