Holly and Alan and I drove up to Charlotte over the weekend for a party for her. She didn't know we were coming - or that my brother and his family would be there. And thankfully she didn't hear Holly ask me if she could wait out front for her cousins to arrive.
She loved having so much family there. All 4 of her grandkids were there. Both her children. Now that I think of it, I think we were only missing 4 people for it to be the whole family - including spouses. That's pretty amazing.My brother and I used to play football in the yard with our cousin - this weekend he was out playing with all the kids. Or maybe my brother and cousin were really playing and I was just getting in the way back then...
And while some kids were on the piano upstairs, there was usually some kid on the organ downstairs.
It was noisy but in a good kind of way.
