Then Tuesday, we only spent about half a day tootling around the area. We had to get up Wednesday morning in the middle of the night in order to get to the airport on time, so I guess it was a good idea to take it easy. We toured the Jelly Belly factory...
and then followed signs to a place to taste some different olive oils. The couple who owned the business was selling oils based on the health benefits of the polyphenols in each oil. They apparently buy oil from local places and test it before bottling. The information was interesting, thought provoking, and taken by me with a grain of salt and a desire to do some independent research. The base argument was that the health benefits of olive oils are in the polyphenols, not the good fat content, and the olive oil industry is highly unregulated and the levels vary from oil to oil.
Then we ate fish tacos at Rubio's (I have been making my own fish tacos because of how much I loved the Rubio's I first went to in San Diego and then in Tucson... and they were good, but I might like my own better now. This is either a reason to quit cooking or quit eating out.) After lunch we walked around downtown Vacaville, which was surprisingly busy - surprising because the town seemed fairly surrounded by strip malls and chain stores.
I liked the statues of the man and girl picking pears downtown. We saw quite a few statues like these different places on the trip.
And now we're back. Time to mow grass and balance the checkbook.
