Western Wear

Today the girls are supposed to wear "Western Wear" to school. Usually Julia just wears her one pair of jeans, but yesterday in the car I asked them what they wanted to wear today. I was mostly prying at Holly since she refuses to wear pants (lately saying it's because they ride down in the back when she sits). I suggested Holly wear a denim tiered skirt she has and Julia said she also wanted to wear a western skirt. However, Julia doesn't have any western style skirts so I thought to myself - I should make her a skirt this afternoon. Maybe my mistake was asking her what kind of skirt she'd like to have. She suggested one from the "How the West Was Fun" movie we rented a few weeks ago. I don't remember the skirt and couldn't tell much from her drawing of it. So I resorted to looking at my fabric to determine the style and color of the skirt. Here's what she got:

I would have taken a picture of her wearing it, but she's refused to try it on for me. I stayed up til midnight finishing it. She said she likes it, but I doubt it. I'm trying not to be bitter.

The jeans are cut off of some Old Navy jeans that had a knee rip out after 2 wearings. I never got around to patching this pair. The pair of jeans she'll probably wear for Western Day when she refuses to put this on are also Old Navy jeans that had a knee go, but those I patched. The light blue tier is from an old blues shirt of Oliver's - one I took buttons off to make the dresses last week. Since the jeans have that adjustable waist I may be able to cinch it up to fit Holly even though they'd be at least a size too big. I don't think I'd even feel guilty about giving it to Holly instead - and I should have taken a picture of it when SHE tried it on. But I'm trying not to be bitter.

Classic! It is funny that Julia has such a strong sense of her own style that she won't even try it on. I think it is cute and once again that you are very talented. I do think, however, that you are in for some crazy times with Julia and clothing!!
