Washington, D.C.

This is from the top of the Washington monument.

Julia sent me a text message from the metro on the way to the Washington monument.  I told her I remembered waiting in line there when I was little.  And I remember swimming in the pool on the top of our hotel.  And walking a lot.  I remember having a map of McDonald's restaurants in Washington and studying that map along with the map of sights we were going to see.  I remember waiting outside the White House.  And I remember Dorothy's shoes in a museum.

That pretty much sums up my memories of Washington.  I have been back since then.  I was about 10 the first time I went.  Then I was 14.  Then I was 20 something a few times.

Mom reminded me it was raining while we waited at the Washington monument.

Luckily for Julia, they don't seem to have waited long.

And I bet she's making some great memories.

Just a short note to let you know how much Rosie and I enjoyed the visit of Holly and Alan. They in turn will have plenty to tell you.
