We're pretty much moved in. And I started to get the girls registered for school the other day, but then realized it was Friday and the school was closed. I got SC tags for the car, but can't find my social security card to get my license. But nevertheless I'm starting to feel a little organized in the house.
We're about 45 minutes from the beach, outside Charleston. Last week (before the kids did Kids Kamp) we drove up to see my grandmother for the day. She's about 3.5 hours away.
The kids seem to be adjusting well to the new place. They like it. They like the beach and the other things we've done. The girls wish there were more girls on the street to play with. I think when school starts they'll be happy. Julia's pushing to have more freedom and go off and meet people, but I'm trying to keep her a little close. I gave her permission to go to the backyard of someone she met on a bike ride, and she was very late coming home - I had to go get her (and Holly) and they'd gone inside the girl's house. To play her Wii. I was not happy. They aren't allowed to go off on their own now.
We've had lots of bickering lately. Maybe part of it is due to all the changes. Part may be having only each other to play with. Part may be the heat and humidity and me making them go out in it. Part of it may be just their ages. There are a few boys on the street who come by and ask them to play. We're making playing with friends an outside activity. Julia played Monopoly outside with a couple of boys this morning for awhile. She wasn't sure how to tell them she wanted them to go home when she was ready to come in. (I told her to tell them she was going in for awhile and she might seem them later, which she did.)
All in all I think things are going well.

That must be tough! I can't imagine moving as a child - I lived in OR my whole life (same house until high school even). Cool that you now live near Chas - we visit there a lot. I'll call you (or email you) next time I'm headed that way... maybe we can have lunch?
They are getting at the age where moving around will get/be more difficult. I'm sure they will adjust quickly at get settled... and you as well!!! Call if you need to chat/vent!
AND get settled... Not at...oops!
