Yesterday we went to the lake. There's a nice swimming area about 20 minutes away from us. Of course, by the time the girls got their room cleaned up - which was the condition on which we would go to the lake - it was after 3. Julia had just gotten in the water up to her hips when the first lightning bolt was spotted. We were out of the water for awhile. But we waited it out and got to swim some. Alan amazed me with his swimming. The swimming area was big and the girls could stand up all the way to the rope.
The tent was set up in the back yard yesterday before we left and the tree over it kept it dry enough that the kids were going to try camping out in it.
They told ghost stories, watched a movie, and fell asleep - sleeping through a few heavy rain showers and lots of thunder before they got hot and couldn't get comfortable with damp pillowcases and blankets. So they came in, reluctantly. I was impressed they lasted as long as they did. And glad I was still awake to help them into their own beds when they decided to come in.
I wish I had pictures. I'm sure the next campout won't be far off.
