Soccer

Like I said earlier - Julia, Holly and Alan are all playing YMCA soccer this fall. They all have been enjoying practice. Although Alan looked a little iffy at the beginning of his first one.

But he quickly got into it when they started to scrimmage - which was really more of a free for all after the ball. I'm pretty sure he stole the ball from his teammate at least once.

But he was excited to score a goal, and he's promised me he's going to score 3 the next time. In fact in today's game he scored one for his team and one for the opponents.

Julia's been enjoying her own team. I think she's really liking her coach, too.

Julia took the pictures of Alan during his practice. He and Holly have practice at the same time. He and Julia seem to have a lot of games scheduled at the same time. It's going to be an interesting fall. Luckily so far they've enjoyed climbing a tree that's next to a playground by one of the fields where Julia practices .

There have been a few ... miscommunications. The coach for Alan's team didn't call me to tell me he'd cancelled practice one night, so Alan and I had our own practice for a bit. I called the Y to get the coach's number to ask what was going on. It's too bad he didn't think to call the Y to get my number. Since it did happen twice. Today the coach didn't show up to the game. He thought it was at 12. It was at 11.

Luckily there were 5 kids from the team there on time and so Alan got a lot of playing time in the first 3 quarters. During the last 7 minute quarter 3 or 4 other teammates showed up. The coaches were still trying to swap kids in and out as if they'd all had equal time to play. The coaches got there in the 3rd quarter.

I'm just glad they're liking playing. And glad Oliver got to see their first games. They were pretty happy about that too.
