Here is our art wall. My contribution is now a painting I did in kindergarten. The pictures are constantly changing and there's probably always a little contention about who has what picture where.

And now there is a shelf unit over the toilet in the hall bath. I hope it helps keep the counter cleaned off - and nobody drops a brush in the toilet. Putting the washclothes and towels here freed up a couple of shelves in the linen closet - good since I have a couple boxes of fabric stash still waiting to be put away.

My cousin gave me these vinyl letters for Christmas. I put them in the girls' room... and I hope they like it. I'm know I'm close to the edge of the time when I can decorate their room my way -

And yesterday Sean spent a rainy day putting some shelves in an odd closet that's in the dining area. It was configured as a coat closet before the shelves, but served as a catchall.
The building of the shelves has solidified my belief that as laid back as he may seem on the outside, Sean is at heart a Perfectionist. Capital P.
Because these are a Perfectionist's shelves, I feel I must add that they are not finished. They are waiting for paint and decorative fronts and when finished the stuff will come out of the boxes - books, games, etc. I'm happy that the cat box is now in the bottom of the closet and not in the hall and I'm trying to convince Sean that the door needs to be left off and stored in the garage/attic.

While the house was a wreck as we worked to unpack a few more boxes of my craft stuff and build the shelves in the closet, Alan did his own construction work.

Some kind of tank maybe. At one point he had the cat in it with him and a blanket over for cover. Today on the way to school he had lots of questions about the army and tanks and planes. I answered as best I could and suggested he ask his dad those questions. Hint hint.

LOVE, LOVE, LOVE all of the wonderful things you're doing to the house - from the girls' room, to Alan's space, and the awesome closet shelves (way to go Sean) - but the art wall is my favorite! The animal bench looks great, too. You're giving me all sorts of fun ideas and inspiration... though we'll have to see if any of these ideas come to fruition! (we know my history of procrastination and indecisiveness)
I'm super-impressed, by the way, with how well you handle things - especially helping the kids understand the importance of budgeting and balancing activities. And Alan's haircut is pretty darn cute, too. :)
