The Episcopal church gave a delicious cinnamon bread as a visitor gift. The Baptist church gave a travel coffee mug. The Methodist church gave this mug I've claimed as mine.
When you put hot liquid in it:
And what's nicer is they brought it to us that Sunday evening after we'd been to church that morning. Maybe if I hadn't liked the church in the first place I'd have been put off and felt it too pushy to come by the house. But I liked it.

Last week one day I put a few seeds in pots. I read that the radishes and turnips do well in pots - or just in the garden spot - and the cool weather won't hurt them, and maybe they even like it. I wanted to do a pot of spinach, too, but didn't have a pot I thought was the right size. Maybe I should try it anyway.
I have a lot of seed packets. I think it is time to start some of the other seeds inside to get ready to put them out after the ground warms more. I've been trying to research. There's a lot of information out there, but it's not exactly laid out in a way that seems easy to put it all together. I got a book from the library to give me an idea of what I should be doing now. And I have another book that's mine that I used even more than this one for details and help.
I'm ready to hit the backyard with a shovel to clear a spot in a sunny patch. Sean thinks we should call to make sure there aren't cables in the way. So I started with the pots for now. Maybe if I made up some newspaper pots to start seeds in I'll feel like I am doing something.

My mom came to visit for the weekend. She likes the progress on the shed.
Sean was impressed that she went up top.

And Frieda also visited this weekend again. She's the class mascot for Alan's class. She got to go to soccer games, play outside just a little (she came in for a nap and Alan went back out), watch a rugby game, and go to the park. I think she had fun. Alan was thrilled to have her. The girls were just as thrilled.
It's funny the things they like to share.

I could be totally wrong, but I didn't think buried cables would be that shallow that you would hit them with a shovel. But am not sure. I dug up a plot last summer and am going to enlarge it this summer. I agree that it is so confusing. I want a simple book that tells me exactly what I need to do to have a full veggie garden this summer. Step by step....
