Driving up to TN

There was a rock slide on I-40 a few weeks ago. So to get from SC to TN using an interstate right now you have to take I-26 to I-81 to I-40. It adds about an hour to the trip through some really beautiful country from Asheville to Johnson City.

We left early Friday, stopped for breakfast and to meet with my mom who spent the night in Columbia and drove as a caravan. Most of the trip she had the kids with her. We stopped at a rest stop to stretch legs somewhere around the NC/TN line. The kids climbed the hill twice.

The view from the top was pretty. Most of the trees had lost their leaves on this stretch, but the mountains are beautiful no matter the weather or season.

And then we drove on.
