Yes, that's duct tape on the window. And that's a new window waiting to be installed.
I think the new couch is worth a new window.
We found a spot for the Christmas tree in the new arrangement. It felt good to have one of Julia's friend's moms remark to me that the room felt more open with the new arangement.
But the broken window has become another snowballing house project like the new bathroom that we got because of the vanity we liked at IKEA.
At the same time we fixed the hall bath to accomodate the new cabinet we started working on the other bathroom, too. It's still waiting for the new toilet and vanity that are taking up space in the bedroom corner for now (in boxes, of course). But we did put up a new light and some shelving.
And then there's the wall of portraits that I don't remember sharing before. Julia's and Alan's were taken at school by the same company but at different times. Sean's cousin took the portrait of Jillian last August, and Holly was playing model for me on that same trip in August. We were just playing around, but ended up with a picture to go with the others.
But about that window...
Sean was really hoping for new windows without a grid. And hoping for black windows so the old and new would match a little more as we worked on replacing them. But, obviously we ended up with white and grids. And because the trim had to come off and will have to go back, we'll be painting it. And that will begin the process of painting the house itself - which may be a hidden blessing since the water damaged boards here and there need to be replaced anyway.
We're learning to be patient and not expect it to all be magically changed at once. Or maybe that's just me who is learning to be patient. I'm really hoping that the toilet and vanity get out of the bedroom and into the bathroom before too long...
