So we are going to use cloth diapers for the new baby. And in the middle of trying to figure out what type and style and brand and how many and all (with a lot of help from Andrea - Thanks!) I realized that people actually knit diaper covers! Wow! They are wool, and called soakers, and hopefully will keep the moisture in but the wetness away from the baby bottom. So far I made 2 in a newborn size. One pulls on like shorts and the other wraps and will close with buttons - I had the option for Aplix, a kind of velcro, but decided the newborn baby won't be fiddling with buttons enough to worry too much about a choking hazard. It's hard to imagine stuffing both a newborn butt and a fluffy cloth diaper in those little things, so we'll see how it goes and I may start making some in larger sizes that I can visualize actually working a little better. At any rate, it's fun to have something practical and small to knit up quick.
In other news, I'm blogging on my new HP mini laptop computer. I went by Target today after doing lots of research on my mom's computer (thanks, mom!) and I love it. As much as you can love something that isn't going to love you back, that is. I thought the small keyboard would bug me, but it doesn't really feel small. And the screen is plenty big to see what I want. And it has some kind of QuickWeb thing on it so I don't have to start Windows to get on the internet. In about 3 seconds after turning it on I can check my email or get on the web.
I haven't introduced the kids to it yet. Not sure when I'll do that.
